Pair of stained glass windows, composed of small squares of translucent glass framed by a rim painted in grisaille decorated with foliage scrolls and rosettes in the corners.
At the top half center of the panes, two women in profile set in medallions face each other. The circular medallions are framed with cabochons and four leaf clamps. The women wear helmets with long flowing hair adorned with flowers very much in the style of Antique cameos
The iconography of women wearing helmets was very popular in the Renaissance, echoing the Roman representations of Minerva the goddess of war and the arts - the most appreciated goddess of the scholars of the 16th and 17th centuries. The Neo-Renaissance movement of the 19th century was equally partial to this mythical figure.
