Carved in sea green marble, this mantel with its gilded bronze ornaments is typical of the French Empire style. Mantels with columns are less widespread, and here they are detached and bear gilded bronze rings, of leaf and dart below and acanthus leaves above. They support a straight lined entablature adorned with three Antique style coin shaped medallions, two of female profiles, the central one of a face surrounded by flames.
