Empire period mantel in blue Turquin marble with detached columns. Resting on bases and rising to very plain capitals, these columns support heads that are linked by a lintel. The thick shelf lays above. The surfaces are all very smooth and unadorned, creating a beautifully sober mantel in line with the aesthetic ideals of the classically inspired First Empire.
