Description
Louis XVI style mantel with curved corners and square rosettes on the heads, which are emblematic to the style. This mantel is typical of the productions of this period in that its design refers to Antiquity. Its pure lines resonate with the purity of the white semi-statuary marble. The antique architectural vocabulary is reinterpreted here : the fluted pilasters are adorned with fillets and the framed guilloche pattern on the front of the entablature is filled with flowers. The décor of the cast iron insert stands out with its blacksmith putto and bold foliage motifs.
