Antique Walnut hooded mantel from the 19th century (Reference 1631)
Description
Beautiful antique Renaissance style walnut wood mantel. The jambs are adorned with fluted spiral columns, rising to acanthus leaf capitals, which frame a lintel carved with foliage flowing out from behind a convex shield. Above, rest a cambered panel with a crisscross design and floral spandrels is placed between projecting scrolls. A cornice supported by a row of corbels rises above. A trapezoid hood, carved with three recessed panels, rests between this cornice and another large multi-tiered projecting cornice above. Such a monumental mantel, fruit of remarkable craftsmanship, brings nobility and character to and interior.
