This pair of Napoleon III gilt bronze andirons was made in the 19th century. Beautiful sphinxes are placed on Louis XVI style pedestals enriched with rich chisels. The bodies of lions are vigorously shaped and the heads of young girls with undulating hair are crowned with tiaras. A saddle decorated with bells fall elegantly on the pedestal over a medallion adorned with the profile of a man. Finally, the pedestal is decorated with a canopy carved with scrolls.
