Green marble fireplace mantel designed for a house built and entirely decorated by French architect Louis Sorel circa 1910. This dark green mantel was set in the entrance hall. The decoration of the house as described and shown in the excerpts from the monthly magazine 'Art et Décoration', July - December 1910, was a reference for the modern, practical, comfortable and light filled architecture emerging at that time. Another dominant trait was the variety and richness of patterns and materials used.
