Carrara marble statue Charles JANSON 1823 - 1881
Charles Janson was a student of Ramey and Dumont at the Beaux Arts. His works were exhibited at the Salon from 1850 to 1880. Several sculptures were acquired by the State. He did commissions for the Louvre, the Tuilerie Gardens, the National Library and the Opera. His latest works are two busts, one for the Town Hall of Paris and another of Mademoiselle St Huberty for the Opera.
He died on 26 March 1881, his grave is decorated with a medallion by L.F. Chabaud.

Condition :

A defect in the marble on the right shoulder has been hidden by a patina. Excellent condition.
