Cast iron vase with two handles with a sliver décor on a green background.On one side a scene refered to the story of the god Apollo and the nymph Daphne, the beautiful daughter of the river god Ladon, and on the other Apollo is shown killing the serpent Python.
The handles represent serpent/dragons in an oriental style.
The vase rests on a base.

Pursued by Apollo, Daphne flees to her father the river god Ladon, calling out for help. He transformed her into a laurel tree and she escaped the enamored god.
The monstrous Python protected the sanctuary of Delphi. Apollo killed the monster with his bow and arrows, became known as "Pythian Apollo" and Delphi became his most important oracle center.
