Green marble Louis XIV mantel (Reference 1245)
Louis XIV style mantel from the second half of the 19th century carved in green marble from the Alpes. Rising on a pair of molded jambs, this mantel presents a curved entablature and wide spandrels decorated with panels in relief. The mantel shelf follows the bold straight lines of the style.
The marble here is a beautiful Green Alpes marble also called Maurin Green that was quarried in the 19th century. It was used in the Invalides in Paris for Napoleon’s tomb.
