Carrara marble mantel with lion paws (Reference 1260)
Both sober and refined this mantel is a beautiful example of the Empire style: slightly console jambs with falling acanthus leaves covering the top scroll, rest on lion paw feet. Above square diamond shapes, which were very in vogue in the Second Empire, frame either side of the entablature.
