Breche d'Alep marble mantel  (Reference 9445)

Superb Louis XV style mantel in Breche d’Alep marble from the 19th century. The curved lines of the hearth opening present a molding that both underlines the structure of the mantel and the decoration of the entablature. The front bears a central shell framed by a cartouche of curled foliage in recessed panels. Crowned with scrolls, the heads are adorned with upside down shells from which trophies of bell flowers hang down upon curved jambs adorned with semi-filleted flutes rising from scrolls.
This model is characteristic of the Louis XIV style by its architecture and ornamentation.
