Four stained glass windows from Mons, Belgium (Reference 9486)
Series of four stained glass windows from the apse of a church in Mons, Belgium from 1902. The first represents the Virgin Mary in prayer, intercessor before God, with below the words “Regina sine lare originali con” (Queen of Immaculate Conception, pray for us) that come from the litanies of Loreto or of the Blessed Virgin Mary which recount Mary’s religious qualities. In the lower part of the window, among a bouquet of lilies another banner proclaims: « Tota pulchra es et macul_ non est in te » which is: « Tota pulchra es, Maria, et macula originalis non est in te » (You are all beautiful Mary and the Original sin is not in your.) This is an except of an old 14th century song called Tota Pulchra Es, from an unknown writer. These words are also in the Song of Songs and the “O Sanctissima” prayer.
The second window depicts Christ giving his blessing, “sacratissimum cor jesu”. In the lower part is a shield with a banner bearing the motto: “Honneur et Fidélité” (Honor and Faithfulness).
