18th century mantel in Breche d'Alep marble (Reference 1401)

On hold

Elegant Louis XV style mantel in Breche d'Alep marble from the late 18th century. Slightly curved jambs rising up to volutes with deeply carved flutes and molded panels that support a richly adorned entablature. At the center of the frieze rests a large asymmetrical stylized shell with split and festooned edges, from which and acanthus leaf emerges like a flame igniting its heart, flanked on either side by a leaf-like shell. Two other shells, with hanging bell flowers crown the jambs echoing the volutes of the jambs. The molded shelf follows the lines of the mantel.
This mantel comes with its marble hearth floor and cast iron insert.
