White Carrara marble Regence mantel (Reference 1402)
Regence style mantel in veined Carrara marble, 19th century. Towards the end of the reign of Louis XIV, mantel designs gained fluidity and more decorative elements. This mantel is clearly reminiscent of the Louis XIV style with its powerful jambs adorned with detached tapered molded pilasters crowned with capitals of volute shaped foliage from which a margent drops. The entablature is framed with moldings in a strong relief and bears a large central cartouche on scrolled leaves. The shelf has a rounded edge and it's soft curves underline the architecture of the mantel. < br /> Gilded and chiseled bronze air vents embellish the sides of the mantel.
