Rare glazed ceramic fireplace, predominantly pale blue, dating from around 1900. The surround is composed of molded tiles featuring a frieze of stylized tulips, characteristic of Art Nouveau design vocabulary. Vertical and horizontal moldings structure the form, creating a balanced geometric composition. The mantel shelf is made of painted wood, providing a sober contrast to the ceramic surface. This type of decorative fireplace was typically used in artistic or bourgeois interiors of the early 20th century and reflects the growing influence of the Art Nouveau movement in European decorative arts.
