A Pompadour mantel with a central oval design flanked by carved panels that follow the generously curved lines of the hearth opening. These same motifs adorn the canted jambs.
A very rare marble for this mantel. The marble is a very rare variety of Breche from the Pyrenees called Médous Breche, with a dominant gray or ocher base. Note the unusual strong reddish hue at the center of the entablature indicating the accidental presence of iron oxide at the time the generation of the stone.
This fireplace is sold without any insert nor marble floor but those can be made on order.
