Dimensions
Width 65'' ⅜ 166cm
Height 137'' 348cm
Depth: 2'' ¾ 7cm
Elegant pair of double doors in moulded wood, Louis XVI style, dating from the 19th century, complete with their original architectural frames and two projecting triangular pediments. Each leaf is symmetrically structured with four moulded panels, reflecting the refined and balanced neoclassical aesthetic characteristic of the Louis XVI style. The classical influence is evident in the architectural rigour of the design, the geometric layout, and the inclusion of pediments inspired by ancient Greco-Roman architecture. The ensemble is painted in a soft light grey tone with a slightly aged patina. The reverse side is painted in an ivory tone and bears workshop markings in pencil. Wear, paint losses, and remnants of old lock fittings are visible, especially at the centre join. The presence of the original pediments and moulded frames makes this a rare and complete architectural ensemble, both decorative and historically significant.
