Very inspired by the Japanese art this pair of double doors uses the floral and water themes, which are very popular in the Far East. Reeds, peonies, iris and hollyhock are painted on a lakeside, under drooping wisteria.
The colors and drawing are realistic. Such a precise reference to nature is typical of the late 19th century art.
