Louis XVI style firescreen in gilt wood and Aubusson tapestry depicting an Allegory of Music

This elegant Louis XVI style firescreen was made in the second half of the 19th century in gilt wood.
It presents a beautiful tapestry of Aubusson made from a model painted in François Boucher (1703-1770) taste in which is represented an allegory of Music through two chubby cupids in a celestial landscape. One of them is playing flute while the other, sat on a red drapery, holds a partition.
The abundant decoration finely sculpted of the gilt wood frame is typical of the Louis XVI style. We, indeed, find on each side, a tapered column adorned with asparagus in the flutes. They both hold a laurel leaves torus attached on the center of the frame by a ribbon motif. The artist who have made this sculpted frame wanted to show his know-how and the detail importance by giving the impression that the torus is goinf through the column's capital to fall then, on its side. Finally, the firescreen is resting on four elegant and curved feet, joined by a cube welcoming a sculpted rose. They are finished with scrolls and are adorned with beautiful palm leaves.
