Wrought iron entrance door with the symbol of "Lloyds"

Door with a wooden structure, a central glass pane and a large wrought iron decoration dominated by the figure of an anchor, the symbol of Lloyds the famous insurance company. In each corner, a medallion presents a woman's profile. In the tradition of geographical allegories, each part of the world is represented by a woman's face in profile: An Egyptian for the middle East, a Black African for Africa, an Indian for the Americas, and a Japanese for the far East.

In about 1670, in London, business men would gather every day for a drink at the Lloyds coffee house and participate in insuring merchants ships and their merchandise in a similar fashion that one would play the market at the stock exchange.
