Original set of a pair of wooden shutters and railings, rustic style, mid-19th centur

Dimensions:
Width: 44'' ⅛  112cm
Height: 81'' ½  207cm
Depth: 2''   5cm

This set is composed of a pair of wooden shutters decorated with branch-shaped motifs on the inner side and a railing imitating wooden branches. Made in the middle of the 19th century, the set comes from a house in the Rococo style. The rocailleur style appeared in France in architecture and gardens from the mid-1840s with the development of artificial cement and the use of concrete. It defines an ornamental work that imitates nature whether it is rocks or natural stones, which is then called rocaillage or wood called rusticage. It was the World's Fairs and especially the creation of the Buttes-Chaumont in 1867 that contributed to the development and recognition of this French style imitating nature.
