This elegant antique fireplace was made out of a pink marble during the 19th century. The general design is geometric, surmounted by a moulded shelf beneath a fluted concave frieze, typical of Louis XIV style mantel. Nevertheless, the gilt bronze ornamentation belongs to the Napoleon III style : ribboned laurel and flower garlands in the center and laurels and ribbons on the jambs.
The original cast iron insert is ornamented with a lattice pattern made of olive branches, framed by a pearled frieze.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order.
