This beautiful Napoleon III style fireplace was made during the second half of the 19th century in a rare material : the Portor marble.
The molded shelf rests on a front carved with diamond patterns both on the center and the corners. The front of the curved jambs are carved with palm leaves topping a pilaster and ending with lion's paw.
On each sides of the chimney gilt circular hinged ventilation ports.
The cast iron insert is embellished with a grid, in each square a lily (symbol of the King of France) and the lines are crossing with florets.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order.
