This mantel is typical of Napoleon III period designs. It’s curved shape with canted jambs are inspired by the Louis XV style. The choice of black marble enlivened by bright violet Brocatelle inlays is a reflection of the very decorative and inventive taste of the Napoleon III style.
An added refinement is the finely engraved arabesques on the entablature.
With no insert, nor marble floor.
