This fireplace, crafted from Saravezza marble—a prized Italian stone known for its light background traversed by striking black, grey, and occasional brown veining—features the characteristic lines of the Louis XV style. Made in the 19th century, it presents a serpentine silhouette with a moulded shelf and a central panel embellished with an asymmetrical shell, a motif commonly associated with the Rocaille aesthetic. The jambs are gently curved at the top and extend downward into finely carved fluted sections with rudents. The ornamentation remains measured, allowing the natural richness of the marble to express itself fully, with its contrasting veins accentuating the sculptural movement of the piece. This model reflects a 19th-century reinterpretation of the Louis XV taste, blending decorative fluidity with a pursuit of balanced design.
This fireplace is sold with a modern cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
