Black lion paw marble mantel (Reference 1392)
Fine black Belgium marble mantel in the Empire style from the 19th century. Powerful lion paw jambs resting on end blocks rise up to a deep scroll draped with acanthus leaves. They support an entablature decorated with a geometrical frieze of carved squares and diamonds. The highly architectural design is enhanced by the choice of Belgium black marble with its deep homogeneous hue upon which light plays.

France, 19th century
