Sold item - Coat of arms of France fireback (Reference 9424)
Sold item
Cast iron fireback with the coat of arms of France, dated 1682. The shield is adorned with three fleur-de-lys and topped with a royal crown. Two palm leaves that delicately underline the structure of the shield span out across the fireback, standing out against a smooth background. The fireback is framed with a frieze of interwoven flowers. A fine quality of craftsmanship using a strong relief in the sculpture.
Origin
