Napoleon III style mirror shaped like a table cut diamond with its eight facets framed in gilded wood. The table of the mirror is framed with a decor of foliage and pearls, while an egg-and-dart molding circles the outer frame of the whole mirror. The carved pediment is a cartouche of leaves that flow down the sides. A festoon of flowers drops above the top facet. Acanthus leaves, echoing those of the cartouche, adorn the frame, softening the octagonal shape. The detail of the sculpture, the play of materials and quality of gilding all contribute in creating a magnificent object.
