This monumental mantel is an extraordinary example of a Gothic stone chimney piece and bears witness to the vast interiors of the 15th century increasingly rare today.
Its wide protruding entablature, remnant of the medieval hooded mantel, is typical of the Renaissance period. The large pillars are fluted on all sides. The sides cut at an angle embellish and lighten the massiveness of the piece.
The entablature is 29"1/2 high.
