Regency style walnut mantel with a painted insert of amphoras and stylized interwoven olive branches on a golden yellow background and a green marble shelf. The mantel itself is finely carved walnut with grooved jambs and a central spiral ribbon rising to a lush falling acanthus leaf. The heads above are richly carved square rosettes that flank a lintel with a protruding center cartouche draped with a delicate but full swag of daisies and peonies, tied with large boss and ribbons set against a panel with a contour of pearls. Finally a series of molding rise to support the shelf, that is carved to follow the relief of the mantel.
