This object was certainly made by Collinot and Co., a ceramic factory established in Boulogne-Billancourt, created by Eugene Victor COLLINOT (1824 - 1889) and Adalbert de BEAUMONT (1810-1863). This company was very successful in the 19th century and recieved several prestigious orders from famous people such as the Shah of Persia, the Empress Eugenie or Prince Vladimir of Russia.
As any gentleman of his time, Adalbert de BEAUMONT made his Grand Tour in order to complete his education. In the 19th century the traveler went beyond Rome and Athens, to the Orient. Thus, he visited Tunisia, Egypt and Persia. He was inspired and nourished by these trips and published a Collection of drawings for Art and engraved Industry (1859-1873). With Eugene Victor COLLINOT they choose to illustrate the title page with the 'Turkish house', built in 1855 in European taste for Turquerie. This building was the general deposit of Collinot and Co.

This bowl was inspired by the Baptistery of Saint Louis. This Islamic work of art carries this very Christian name since it was taken by St Louis during a Croisade and later on was used for the baptism of numerous Kings, such as Louis XIII. Preserved in the Louvre collection, this item inspired many artists during the Orientalism vogue.
