This antique Louis XVI style fireplace was made out of Carrara marble towards the end of the 19th century. The entablature is delicately decorated with curlicue and flowers. The jambs are made up of cabled fulting and asparagus heads. The capitals are decorated with acanthus leaves.
Pierre Ferret was born in 1877 and was an architect from Bordeaux. Around 1910, he built his house at 80 Avenue Carnot in Bordeaux, a place that was both his home and his workshop. Designed by himself, Ferret Hotel was fully furnished and decorated by Pierre Ferret.
This fireplace is sold without its original enameled insert and with its original marble floor. The marble floor is stained.
