Status:
In good condition. Some chips on the marble which could be restored. Some accidents on the frieze. A former restoration on the leg.
This outstanding Louis XVI style antique fireplace was made out of Statuary Carrara marble during the 1880's. The legs are made up of two detached fluted square columns. The columns are crowned by an Ionic capital decorated with acanthus leaves and pearls. The entablature stands out with its carved frieze of pearls. The pearls are connected with a thread which is very rare. The entablature ends at each end with delicately carved square rosettes.
The sides of the fireplace are paneled.
This antique fireplace comes from the Hotel de Crillon in Paris.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any hearth. A hearth could be made to order.
