Elegant Louis XVI style mantel in Saravezza marble, from the 19th century. Its structure and decorative elements are characteristic of the Louis XVI style. Oak leaves are draped upon the slightly curved and deeply fluted jambs, which rise up to square rosettes and support the fluted frieze of the entablature. The bold sculpture and choice of very pure ornamentation, enhances the beauty of the marble with its lively strong veins that fully participate in the design.
The sides bear brass air vents. This mantel comes with its original cast iron insert sculpted with flowers in baskets against a rosette filled lattice work and a central feature of a pair of putti lighting a fire set in a grape rimmed frame of ribbons and grape leaves.
