This beautiful antique Louis XVI style fireplace was sculpted in a green marble with yellow and orange veins while the sculptures are made our of a beautiful Statuary Carrara marble. This relatively rare model features completely detached columns, carved with grooves. These are lined with flutes and asparagus carved from Statuary marble. Columns are based on ogee bases and are crowned with beautiful Ionic capitals finely carved, all made of Statuary marble. The frieze of this fireplace is inlaid with a frieze of Statuary marble representing laurel leaves. The heads of the frieze are lined with carved square rosettes, placed on the front of the fireplace and on its sides.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert and with its marble floor.
