This antique Louis XVI style overmantel pierglass was made during the 19th century. In the upper part, branches of roses and branches of laurels are tied by a ribbon winding around a medallion in which a painting represents a gallant and bucolic scene, characteristic of the 18th century as the works by Antoine Watteau. Sitting and barefoot in a twilight landscape, a young man is courting a young woman holding a basket of flowers. The place for the mirror is adorned with a beaded border and a frieze of small leaves typical of the style.
