With the basic shape of a late Louis XIV style mantel, the entablature of this mantel with its curves and moldings is typical of the Regence style. The center of the front is embellished by an oval medallion, which is framed by molded panels that are shaped like spandrels. The shelf gives hints at a curve, while the jambs are very slightly swelled at the top and tapered at the base.
As quite common for 18th century mantels there are no marble sides to the mantel. The sides can be painted in faux-marble.
