This Louis XVI style mantel if of the “Corbel type”. The corbel-shaped jambs are curved, carved into volutes above and below and the central fluting is adorned with a refined spiral ribbon motif. From top to bottom they are molded and they rise to hanging oak leaf motifs. The entablature is exquisitely elegant: an oval shaped foliage motif flanked by two molded panels is framed by a row of pearls. Slightly recessed compared to the entablature, the heads are adorned with square rosettes, which is typical of the Louis XVI style. The shelf follows the lines of the mantel. The refinement of this mantel is enhanced by the use of marble from Carrara.
Original enameled insert inclued.
