The side posts are semi-detached columns rising up to capitals decorated with foliage that support a Romanesque arch adorned with square rosettes. This arch serves as a frame to a Typanum decorated with Fleurs-de-lys and a central monogram. The words “Here is the house of God and the door to Paradise” are carved in latin on the entablature below.
This composition is largely inspired by Medieval art particularly Romanesque art, although the Neo-Gothic movement tended to mix different Medieval styles adapting them to the 19th century sensitivity – very inclined towards dreamy Romantic religious atmospheres.
