Classical half-moon Louis XVI style mantel from the 19th century. The front is slightly protruding and enhanced by a frame with moldings. At the center of the frieze, flanked by molded panels, an elongated rosette echoes the neo-classical square rosettes on the heads of the jambs. The jambs are rounded fluted and filleted pilasters, with rods rising a third way up the sheaths. The shelf echoes the lines of the protruding entablature and the curves of the jambs, creating a harmonious and elegant composition faithful in spirit to the Louis XVI style.
