This fireplace was made during the 19th century out of white Carrara marble.
A Regence style ornamentation is present all over this mantel, such as : the richly carved shell in the center of the moulded serpentine frieze, and the scrolls sculpted in low-relief on each jambs restings on endblocks.
The original cast iron insert is decorated with scrolls and shells on a lattice pattern background.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order.
