This gable from a Basque house dates from the 16th century and adopts the Louis XIII style. The Basque house, called etche, was a structure based on timber framing, as this gable attests. The timber was clearly visible outside and the space between the trusses and braces was filled with pebbles. Two windows with latticework are placed on either side of the central post. It is very rare today to see a house from before the 16h century in the Basque region, which makes this gable such an exceptional find.
