Jacques ADNET (att to) - Triptych-shaped firescreen made of glass and chrome with beautiful rings

Dimensions:
Width: 37'' ⅜  95cm
Height: 24'' ¾  63cm
Depth: 11''   28cm

Origin:
20th century, France

This firescreen in glass and chrome with its beautiful rings was made in the 20th century and is attributed to Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) who created many similar models to this one. In particular, the rings with their unequal width (the part facing the joints is thicker) are characteristic of his work and reflect a very elaborated work.
This functional firescreen is in the form of a triptych: it consists of three glass panels connected by hinges in chrome embellished with rings. It reflects the Jacques Adnet elegance, sophistication and purity of the line. Jacques Adnet, born in 1900 in Loiret ( department in north-central France) and died in 1984 in Paris, is an architect and designer. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and exhibited in various French and foreign fairs until the consecration at the Paris World Fair in 1937 where he received the grand prize for architecture and furniture for the Saint-Gobain Glass Pavilion, a grand prize he will receive again in 1958 in Brussels. He was President of the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs from 1947 to 1949. In the 1950s, he worked for a refined and wealthy clientele like Frank Jay Gould or the President of France
His work, with its geometric shapes and its innovative materials, still nevertheless imprints by a certain classicism through the purity of the lines: like many artists of his generation, he did the link between tradition and modernity. The elegance of his work will become his signature. Metal and glass are among his favorite materials.
