Louis XVI mantel made in 18th century in Volvic stone.
The paneled jambs support an entablature adorned with filleted flutes and palmettes in the center and stylized palms in the corners.
The Volvic stone is a volcanic rock which was very much used in the constructions in particular in the surroundings of Clermont-Ferrand. It has a color ranging from light gray to black hues. It comes mainly from the quarries located near Volvic which were heavily exploited during the 19th and 20th centuries.
This fireplace is sold without interior or hearth tile.
