Separating doors with stained glass windows decorated with characters in Renaissance costumes. Stained glass window signed J. Vantillard Paris.
Charles Joseph Vantillard (1836-1909), apprentice of Oudinot in Paris between 1853 and 1856, signed an apartment stained glass window in 1856. When he married Marie Joséphine Neouhen in 1868, he claimed to be a glass painter but was still not self-employed. Finally, in 1874, he took over from the glass painter Ména at 12 rue Tlemcen in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. He offers his clients "stained glass windows for churches and apartments", then engraving on "bare and open glass for doors, staircase windows and shop fronts". Joseph Vantillard was present at the World Fairs of 1878, 1883, 1889 and 1900, as well as at several regional exhibitions between 1882 and 1887, where he won many decorations. During his career, Vantillard has created religious stained glass windows for churches or cemetery chapels. His works can be seen in Paris, in the Paris area (Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne), but also in french departments Allier, Aube, Manche, Meuse and Yonne.
