Set of three ceiling panels in stained glass made for an hotel’s dining room
Dimensions:
Width: 73'' ¼ 186cm
Height: 86'' ⅝ 220cm
Origin:
France, 20th century
This beautiful set of three ceiling panels was made at the end of the 20th century for the dining room of a Parisian hotel. They are made out of stained glass (with a metal structure) which are very characteristic of the taste for skylights in Parisian architecture during the 1880s. The central medallion is decorated with intertwined garlands of realistic flowers. The lateral compartments has diverse ornemental elements which are typical of the so-called « French taste » such as rosettes, olive branches symbolising wisdom and glory or vegetal garlands with knotted ribbons. The decorative aspect of these pieces is underlined by the abundance of motives, the harmony of colours and the overall symmetry.
