This precious liquor cellar in bronze and finely knurled crystal was made at the end of the 19th century by the French manufacturer Baccarat Crystal. It contains a set of three glasses and a flask finely decorated with golden stars and stripes.
Located in Lorraine (East of France), Baccarat is one of the most famous crystal factory. Baccarat Crystal is at first a glasswork created in 1764 by Monsignor de Montmorency-Laval, Bishop of Metz. It became in 1816 a crystal factory whose quality of production, from an aesthetic as well as a technical point of view, soon made its glory. Baccarat Crystal obtained several gold medals at the Salon’s exhibitions and received a gold medal at the Paris World’s Fair of 1855 .
This liquor cellar, according to the eclecticism and the opulence of the Napoleon III style, is characterized by the richness of the materials and the eclecticism of the decor. The bronze structure takes the shape of bamboo stems while vine leaves, which remind the object destination, adorn the round feet. The joints and the top are inspired by Louis XV style: Rococo curves and vegetal volutes are intertwining. The bronze ornaments are extremely fine and are very elaborate, as for example the leaves veins or the bamboos nodes.
