Pair of Régence style double dual-sided doors with roses

These two Régence style doors with two leaves were made in the late 19th century. They are adorned on the two sides with a beautiful paneled decoration framing on the center a flowery rose with acanthus leaves. The handles are also nicely decorated with chiseled motifs reminding of the Rococo style.

BACCARAT - Pair of Persian ruby bottle-shaped vases, circa 1880

This pair of Persian bottle-shaped vases with Japanese vegetal decoration was made by the Baccarat crystal works around 1880. Founded under the reign of Louis XV, the French crystal manufacturer Baccarat excellence at the World's Fairs throughout the 19th century. These ruby-hued blown crystal vases feature acid-etched and gilded decoration. The Japanese-style decoration features a plant stretching its branches around the circumference, interrupted only at the ring, in the middle of the neck, and at the top. The top of the neck is decorated with geometric friezes. The influence of Japanese prints is perceptible in the theme, as well as in the way of space and the representation of the plant world. Each vase bears an antique label on the base, marked "BACCARAT - FRANCE". The Baccarat crystal works produced a number of ruby-colored vases with very similar designs similar to this one in the 1880s, including two from a set that sold at at Drouot in 2016.

Théodore DECK, Decorative Dish in Glazed Ceramic with Poppy Flowers

This decorative plate with poppy flower decoration was created by the ceramist Théodore Deck at the end of the 19th century. Théodore Deck initially trained in the stove-making industry. When he established himself in Paris in 1858, he manufactured stove coverings. Buoyed by his success, he then ventured into ceramics. His workshop created numerous plates, sometimes in collaboration with recognized painters. He gradually perfected his technique and achieved significant success at the many Universal Exhibitions he participated in. In 1878, he was made an Officer of the Legion of Honour. He directed the Sèvres manufactory from 1887 until his death in 1891. Against a white background adorned with lightly embossed decorations, several field flowers stand out: poppy flowers, both in full bloom and in various stages of blooming, are displayed alongside small orange flowers and even some grasses. The blues and greens of the leaves complement the vivid colors of the flowers. This work reflects the fashion of Japonism that swept through European art from the 1870s to the early years of the 20th century, which particularly influenced Théodore Deck, a collector of East Asian art.

Eugène FEUILLÂTRE, "Poppy" inkwell, circa 1898

This inkwell, shaped like a poppy pod, was created by Eugène Feuillâtre around 1898, when a silver inkwell of this model (now housed in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris) was presented at the Salon des Artistes Français. Eugène Feuillâtre (1870-1916) was both a sculptor, goldsmith, jeweler, and enameler. At the age of twenty, he was appointed head of the enameling workshop at René Lalique, where his mastery of both jewelry-making and enameling allowed him to create exceptional pieces. He later opened his own workshop and specialized in creating cloisonné or painted enamels in the Art Nouveau style. He exhibited his works at numerous Salons, notably in 1898, where he presented an inkwell similar to ours, and at the Exposition Internationale de l’Est de la France in Nancy in 1909. He died prematurely at the age of forty-six. Feuillâtre’s pieces are particularly recognizable by their milky, pearly, or opalescent backgrounds, like that of our work. The enamel, a very light and pearly green, features delicate incisions that hold fine gold-colored demarcations in places; these outline a peacock feather, a motif favored by the artist. The body of the inkwell takes the shape of a poppy pod and reflects his inspiration from natural motifs; at the top, the stylized vegetal collar can be lifted to reveal the inside of the inkwell. This highly precious piece is stamped under the lid and the base. A copy of this inkwell was sold at Artcurial on 28 November 2022 (lot no. 33) for €9,000 (excluding costs). A variant with more pronounced color variations, dated around 1900, is housed in the Musée d’Orsay under the title of “vase”.
