Important Louis XVI style woodwork, end of the 20th century

This important Louis XVI style woodwork was made at the end of the 20th century. The light yellow panels present an antique stucco decoration enhanced with a golden patina. The frame of the overmantel as well as those of the doors take the shape of a laurel torus. The decorative panels above the doors are adorned with attributes in foliage scrolls painted in gold on a white background. The doors are flanked by rectangular panels with interlacing gilded laurel leaves on a white font. The rest of the woodwork is composed of rectangular panels framed with various gold-colored friezes. Only one pair of doors is included in the set. More sizes available upon request.

Wood paneled room with trompe l'oeil library decoration, late 20th century

This piece of woodwork was made at the extreme end of the 20th century, around 1985 and comes from a Parisian mansion. It presents a grey paneled decoration enhanced with gold, composed of empty shelves surmounted by cupboards opening with a leaf, or filled with trompe l'oeil books by great authors with old bindings. The shelves are punctuated by protruding ionic columns on rudent pedestals. Three doors give access to the room, two of which are trompe l'oeil, taking up the library decor and opening with a round handle.

Flowers and golden spangles, an exceptional ceramic vase by Emile GALLÉ

Signed with the name Emile Gallé, our vase is a rare piece. It was made in Nancy in 1884. This work, just before the wave of art nouveau, reveals Gallé's precocious talent. At this time, Gallé studied mineralogy and developed his passion for natural sciences. In order to evoke nature, the artist does not hesitate to use complex techniques. The earthenware has inclusions of metallic particles which give it a precious character. The floral decoration is thus illuminated by gold spangles. From red-brown to golden yellow, the color gradient is particularly warm and elegant. The edge of the vase is decorated with plant decoration. Like many of Gallé's creations, this vase is closer to a work of art than a simple decorative object. A source of emotion, it appeals as much to the eye as to the mind. We know of a vase of a larger size, which was presented at the exhibition of the central union of decorative arts in 1884. Designed by Gallé, a preparatory study for a vase from the same period is kept at the Musée d’Orsay.
